Weekly blog 2025-01-24

This week was dedicated to researching Hepatitis B (HBV) to create an infographic aimed at educating others about the risks of the HBV virus. Hepatitis B is a severe liver condition caused by the hepatitis B virus. Symptoms can vary and may include yellowing of the eyes, abdominal pain, and dark urine, though some individuals, especially children, might not exhibit any symptoms. The HBV vaccine is primarily intended to prevent infections caused by HBV, which can result in serious liver conditions such as Acute Hepatitis B, Chronic Hepatitis B, Liver Cirrhosis, Liver Cancer, and Hepatitis B-associated Liver Failure. According to the HBV Foundation, as of 2022, only 30% of adults have received the HBV vaccine. While vaccinations for HBV are typically administered at birth, they can be received at any age.

The other part of this week, my personal favorite, was snow. For the first time in my life, there was actual snow on the ground in Mobile, Alabama. That being said, I spent the majority of the week outside playing in the snow, like a child. I built a rather pathetic looking snowman with my sister, made snow angels, and had a snowball fight, where I might have accidentally hit my grandmother with a snow ball.
