Dr. C. Caleb Butts

Dr. C. Caleb Butts is an assistant professor within the Department of Surgery and serves as a trauma and burn surgeon within the Division of Trauma & Acute Care Surgery at USA Health University Hospital – the region’s only level 1 trauma center. Dr. Butts returns to USA Health after doing a two-year fellowship in Acute Care Surgery at Wake Forest School of Medicine in Winston-Salem, NC, where he garnered specialty training in caring for trauma, burn, surgical critical care, and emergency general surgical patients. He completed his general surgery residency at USA Health in 2017. As a resident, Dr. Butts received accolades for his patient care and teaching. He has been inducted into Alpha Omega Alpha and Gold Humanism Honor Society, as well as received recognition for the Robert Thomas Johnson Junior Resident of the Year and American College of Surgeons Chief Resident of the Year. Dr. Butts has been published in peer-reviewed literature with articles in print in the Journal of Burn Care and Research, Burns, Injury, and Annals of Plastic Surgery.
