University of Mobile Campus Tour

On Monday, September 26th, the biomed program was invited to tour the University of Mobile and sit in a nursing lecture. Once we arrived at the campus around 8:20 we were taken to a small auditorium were multiple professors talked to us about what all we could expect from the tour and the school itself if we decided to apply there. Around 9:30 we were split into two groups of twelve and eleven, from there group 1 went to the simulation lab/OR room with Dr. Hughes, and group 2, the group I was in, went to the cadaver lab with Dr. Craig. While in the simulation labs we were able to use the VR glasses in order to experience a procedure used during birth if a problem occurs. We were also able to practice finding the pulse on an extremely life-like dummy. After each group experienced both opportunities, after each group finished their first lab they went to the second lab, both groups went to a different class to sit in a lecture. Group 1 was invited to sit in a Pediatrics Nursing Class with Mrs. Ashley Smith; however, group 2 was able to sit in a Medical-Surgical Nursing Class with Mrs. Tammy Brown. Finally around 11:00 we were taken to the cafeteria where we were able to experience what lunch in college would be like. After eating for about an hour or so we returned to the bus and left the campus to return to our own school.
