Forensic Week Day 5

Day five was presentation day, this meant that my group had to present the facts of the case and what we believe happened based on the evidence we found. Our main theory was this, the wife was terminally ill, stage four breast cancer, and researched how to effectively commit suicide by asphyxiation, via plastic bag, after taking prescription drugs to numb her senses, rather than waiting to die naturally.

At the scene the woman was found laying in a comfortable position on the floor with a face mask on and a plastic bag around her head, and a rubber band around her neck securing the bag.

Based off the evidence at the crime scene, my group quickly came to the conclusion that the victim most likely committed suicide. The body was below a bedside table with the drugs used to put her to sleep and a book detailing the death step by step. According to the book, the face mask is used to delay the panic of suffocating, and rubber bands are used to secure the bag without leaks, and the drugs were used as a way to allow a peaceful death. This way of suicide allows the victim to die peacefully in their sleep. This theory was further proved when it was discovered that the victim's husband was also terminally ill and unable to climb the stairs to his wife's body.
