Ultrasonography, refers to diagnostic techniques using ultrasound, as well as therapeutic applications of ultrasound. A diagnostic medical sonographer, also known simply as a sonographer, uses imaging equipment and soundwaves to form images of many parts of the body, known as ultrasounds. They are trained to acquire and analyze these sonographic images. These images are used to help doctors diagnose and treat many medical conditions. When sonographer Brandi Harnish came to speak to us, she was able to show us how an ultrasound works and what it is used to show. She was able to use the ultrasound on three volunteers. She was able to show us the trachea, kidneys, liver, bladder, and uterus of classmates.
